PROJECT DESCRIPTION & BACKGROUND
The HERoic Tracks project is an Erasmus+ funded European initiative that aims to improve the integration and inclusion of refugee and migrant women in European societies. The project responds to the increasing need for gender-sensitive integration approaches, recognising that women with refugee and migrant backgrounds often face multiple barriers, including language difficulties, limited access to education and employment, social isolation, discrimination, and cultural challenges.
HERoic Tracks seeks to strengthen existing integration systems by developing innovative tools, research methods, and training programmes that better address the specific needs of refugee women. The project focuses on understanding and tracking the educational, social, and employment pathways of refugee women in host countries in order to identify gaps in current integration services and improve their effectiveness.
One of the project’s key outcomes is the development of an “Integration Tracker,” designed to collect data and feedback from refugee women participating in integration programmes. This information will help create an “Integration GAP Detector,” a practical tool for organisations, educators, counsellors, and policymakers to evaluate and improve integration support services. In addition, the project provides specialised training for professionals working with refugees, helping them deliver more inclusive, culturally sensitive, and gender-responsive support.
Through transnational cooperation among European partner organisations, HERoic Tracks also promotes the exchange of good practices and the development of policy recommendations aimed at fostering equal opportunities, social participation, and long-term empowerment of refugee and migrant women across Europe.
TARGET GROUPS
The HERoic Tracks project targets refugee and migrant women who face barriers to social inclusion, education, employment, and participation in their host communities. The project particularly supports women with limited access to integration services, language training, vocational opportunities, and social networks. By addressing their specific cultural, social, and gender-related challenges, the project aims to strengthen their confidence, skills, and active participation in society.
The project also targets professionals and organisations working with refugees and migrants, including educators, trainers, counsellors, social workers, NGOs, and public authorities. These stakeholders benefit from innovative tools, research findings, and specialised training that enhance their ability to provide inclusive, gender-sensitive, and effective integration support services.
PROJECT OBJECTIVES
The HERoic Tracks project aims to improve the integration and inclusion of refugee and migrant women by developing innovative, gender-sensitive approaches and tools that respond to their specific social, educational, and employment needs. The project seeks to identify gaps in existing integration services through research and data collection, while tracking the learning and employment pathways of refugee women in host countries.
Another key objective is to strengthen the capacity of educators, counsellors, social workers, and organisations working with refugees by providing specialised training and practical resources. HERoic Tracks also promotes the exchange of good practices and supports evidence-based policy recommendations that contribute to more inclusive, effective, and sustainable integration systems across Europe.
PROJECT RESULTS
The HERoic Tracks project delivers several innovative results aimed at improving the integration and inclusion of refugee and migrant women across Europe. One of the main outcomes is the development of the “Integration Tracker,” a research and monitoring tool designed to collect data, experiences, and feedback from refugee women participating in integration programmes. This tool helps identify challenges, progress, and barriers related to education, employment, language learning, and social participation.
Based on the collected data, the project develops an “Integration GAP Detector,” which supports organisations and service providers in evaluating the effectiveness of their integration programmes and identifying areas that require improvement. These tools contribute to evidence-based decision-making and more targeted support for refugee women.
Another important result is the creation of specialised training materials and capacity-building activities for professionals working with refugees and migrants, including educators, counsellors, social workers, NGOs, and public institutions. The training promotes gender-sensitive, inclusive, and culturally responsive approaches to integration support.
The project also produces research findings, policy recommendations, and examples of good practices that can be shared among European stakeholders and policymakers. Through international cooperation and dissemination activities, HERoic Tracks strengthens collaboration between partner organisations and contributes to the development of more effective and sustainable integration systems that empower refugee and migrant women to actively participate in society and the labour market.
