PROJECT DESCRIPTION & BACKGROUND
The iNTERCULT project responds to the growing need for effective migrant inclusion across Europe by enhancing the role and recognition of intercultural mediators. These professionals play a key role in facilitating communication between people with a migrant background and host communities, supporting access to services, promoting intercultural dialogue, and overcoming cultural and administrative barriers. Despite their important contribution, intercultural mediators often face limited recognition and unequal professional status across EU countries.
To address these challenges, iNTERCULT brings together 5 European partners to identify effective practices in intercultural mediation, assess the needs of mediators, and develop specialised training programmes to strengthen their skills and competences. The project will also produce practical guidelines to support the implementation of intercultural mediation in different contexts.
TARGET GROUPS
iNTERCULT addresses:
- Intercultural mediators or people working in similar positions.
- Structures that are active in the initial reception of refugees and the design and offer of educational and counselling services.
- Public institutions (health clinics, social welfare centres, schools, etc.)
- Experts and researchers in the field of intercultural mediation and/or adult education.
- People with a migration background, in the process of integration.
